Is an EMT online program recognized the same as in person class?

Every Emergency Medical Technician must be licensed and each state has its own specific requirements. The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) sets certification standards that are applicable in most states.

While EMT training can not be completed 100% online, much of the practical training can be accomplished through web-based coursework. Our EMT online program is approved by the NREMT and is every bit as recognized as any traditional course format.

Online EMT certification requires high motivation and strong discipline. The course is perfect for individuals with a healthcare background or for those who have already completed a certification program and are looking for renewal certification.

What are the advantages of a web-based program?

The main advantage is the flexibility online study offers the student. A web-based course allows you to study at your own speed and at your convenience. If you are taking the course to prepare for a career change you can maintain a full-time job while studying for your new career.

The second major advantage is cost. Online courses are more affordable than formal classroom training. The Internet allows us to deliver the highest quality instruction in a very cost and time effective way. Distance learning focuses on the technical, safety and ethical issues involved with being an EMT. The student will still need to attend several short skills sessions to learn and practice the skills that cannot be learned online like patient assessment, administering oxygen and bandaging for example.

How long does the course take? - Image related to EMT Online

How long does the course take?

Typically, basic EMT training requires at least 130 hours of classroom instruction and emergency medical experience. Online study times can vary. It depends on the motivation of the student. As a general rule, we find that students can complete the program in about 10-16 weeks. The flexibility of online study allows motivated students to finish the coursework faster. The more they work online, the faster they can get through the coursework.

Trying to decide whether it’s worth the time and effort to take an EMT online class? There’s a lot to learn, and a lot to gain beyond that knowledge—you just need to know how to make the most of the experience. As you ponder your choices, keep these three reasons to take the plunge in mind:

    1) Low burden of entry :Taking an EMT online class takes far less commitment than taking the same class in a physical location, yet can offer a near-identical education. For anyone that finds the promise of EMT education enticing, but the difficulties of attending such courses prohibitive, online classes make more sense than any other possible approach to learning the same material.

    2) E-learning has several major benefits :The main one is the flexibility it offers to the student. Taking a web-based course requires commitment and dedication, but online study allows you to learn at your own speed and at times that fit into your schedule.

    3) Extreme value, when you want it :Online training always offers a peerless advantage over in-person training: you can learn when it’s most convenient for you. You can’t hope to slip an entire traditional EMT education course into the gaps in your daily life, but an online class can fit into those gaps quite easily. Given the value of the training, being able to fit it in around any life is extremely beneficial.

If you’re considering a career change, or are looking for a career where you can help people and even save a life, consider training to become an EMT online.

Basic EMT training requires about 130 hours of training including classroom study and hands-on field experience. Much of the classroom training can take place online.  While you can’t complete 100% of the licensing requirements online, most online courses are NREMT-approved and are just as recognized as live classroom training in terms of receiving your license.

E-learning has several major benefits. The main one is the flexibility it offers to the student. Taking a web-based course requires commitment and dedication, but online study allows you to learn at your own speed and at times that fit into your schedule.

If you’re currently working, e-learning allows you to maintain your job while preparing for a new career. Another key benefit is the lower cost of online study. Distance learning teaches the technical, safety and ethical issues involved in being an EMT but you will still need to attend live sessions to learn the hands-on skills that can’t be taught online. Students can complete the EMT online training in anywhere from 10-16 weeks of directed study. If you’re a motivated student, it’s possible to finish even faster.

There are several reasons to consider an online EMT course. If, for example, you are considering a career change, online EMT training can be accomplished around your schedule.

If you are interested in pursuing a career as an emergency medical technician, an online course is an affordable way to explore the course of study. The typical course will help you to explore the skills necessary to provide pre-hospital emergency care and support to patients. You will learn the role of the EMT in addressing trauma situations.

Graduates of EMT programs will be prepared to perform the duties of an EMT like basic life support, CPR and first aid as well as more advanced tasks like administering medication and operating complex medical equipment. The course will prepare you for paramedic licensure, which is required in all states.
